Replacing the oil filter on a Range Rover Discovery? Let's look at removing the oil filter in the engine compartment. Open the car door and pull the hood release lever, then lift the hood and secure it. Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing the cap where the oil filter is located. Remove the cover, take out the worn oil filter, and install a new one. Lift the vehicle with a jack and remove the bolt from the oil pan if you need to replace the oil. Fill the engine with new oil. Reinstall the oil filter cover bolts.
