How to Change Engine Oil and Oil Filter

Model: Mazda 3 BK, MK 1 - Years 2003-2009

Place the car on a ramp and lift it so you can work underneath. Locate the oil filter and, using the appropriate spanner, unscrew it. Before removing it, position a container underneath to catch the oil that spills out. Now screw in the new filter. Next, locate the bolt that seals the engine oil drain hole. Place the container underneath and unscrew it. Once drained, re-screw the bolt. Lower the car from the ramp and open the engine bay. Open the engine oil reservoir and pour in the new oil suitable for the vehicle. Finally, check the oil level in the engine using the dipstick. The maintenance operation shown in the images is performed on a Mazda 3.
