Replacement of Primary and Secondary Fuel Filters

Model: Mercedes Classe E W124 - Years 1984-1995

In addition to the original filter, a secondary filter can be installed on the fuel line to enhance filtering action. To replace the secondary filter, unscrew the two hose clamps to remove the fuel lines and completely replace the filter. For the primary filter replacement, a ratchet wrench and the replacement cartridge with the corresponding gaskets are required. Replacing the fuel filter is a simple operation that should be done frequently to maintain maximum engine performance. Unscrew the nut on top of the filter and carefully lift the cover to access the cartridge. The cartridge can be removed simply by pulling it down with some force. Disassemble the filter body and replace the cartridge after thoroughly cleaning the inside of the filter. Close the cover by replacing the rubber gasket and correctly positioning the other gaskets. Fill the filter with diesel or additive and clean up any spilled fuel to prevent fires.
