Learn how to replace the timing belt on a Mercedes ML. Open the engine bonnet and lift it, securing it with the prop rod. Remove the front bumper (if you encounter space issues for access), disconnect the wiring harnesses using pliers, and remove the plastic soundproofing panel with a screwdriver. Lift the car with a column lift to access the underside if necessary. Use a spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. Use a socket wrench to unscrew the tensioner pulley bolt, then remove the water pump.
