Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Model: Mercedes Classe S MK 4, W220 - Years 1999-2005

Lift the vehicle on a hydraulic lift or use a jack and place jack stands under the appropriate supports (rectangular pads) located under the vehicle's frame.
Remove the screws securing the splash shield and then remove the splash shield itself. Locate the oil drain plug (it is positioned on the side) and, after placing a suitable container (about 2.6 qt) under the plug, remove the plug to allow the old oil to drain: once drained, reinstall the plug and tighten to a torque of 22 lb-ft.
At this point, open the hood and locate the oil filter container cap (cartridge filter): it is near the oil filler cap.
Remove the filter container cap using the appropriate wrench (or a metal strap wrench) and extract the old cartridge; replace the 3 O-ring seals (included with the new filter), install the new filter cartridge, and reassemble.
Finally, fill the engine with new oil according to the SAE specifications (0W-40) and the quantity (about 9 qt) indicated in the owner's manual.
Start the engine for a few minutes and then check the oil level using the dipstick.
