Mercedes Classe C - Video tutorial

Model: Mercedes Classe C W202 - Years 1993-2000
Part: Suspensions
Operation: Replacement of the suspension arm bushings

Raise the car in correspondence with the wheel on which to carry out the repair, remove the wheel and apply a stand. Then apply two clamps to the suspension spring, remove the pins fixing the shock absorber to the swinging arm and to the chassis of the car (access the latter from the engine compartment) and remove it from its seat by retracting the stem. With the aid of the clamps, compact the suspension spring until it moves away from the relative support of the frame (apply tear-off clamps to keep the support rubber in its seat) and proceed with the disassembly of the fixing pins of the oscillating arm in correspondence of the relative rubber pads (silent blok) and of the head in order to be able to extract it from its seat. At this point it is possible to proceed with the revision of the oscillating arm by replacing only the bushings: for the extraction of the old bushings it is possible to make a longitudinal cut to the outer jacket of the bush itself so that it can shrink and come out easily; for the insertion of the new ones, an extractor system can be used by inserting a pin of suitable length in the internal part of the bush and a sufficiently large washer with a nut on the other side that allows the bush to slide inside the arm seat as the nut is screwed in. Once the overhaul of the arm has been completed, proceed backwards for reassembly (pay attention to repositioning the spring).

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
