Removing EGR Exhaust Gas Recovery Valve

Exhaust gas recirculation (in internal combustion engines) involves recirculating a "small" portion (5-15%) of exhaust gases from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold to reduce some pollutants present in the exhaust gases. Locate the valve and use a socket wrench to remove the securing bolts at its base. Carefully and slowly remove the valve from its housing by rotating it back and forth until it comes out of its seat. Once extracted, replacement is possible.
