How do you reset the automatic gearbox of the Mercedes E-Class?

In order to reset the automatic transmission of the Mercedes E-Class, you need to turn on the instrument panel by turning the ignition key to position one: once the panel is on, you can press the accelerator pedal all the way down. At this point, you can hold the pedal down for about thirty seconds, release it, and then turn off the panel. It will remain off for about five minutes; then you will need to remove and reinsert the key, press the accelerator pedal, and turn on the panel to complete the reset procedure.
