To reset the automatic transmission of the Mercedes E-Class, turn the ignition key to the first position to power on the instrument cluster. Once the cluster is on, press the accelerator pedal all the way down.

Hold the pedal for about thirty seconds, then release it and turn off the ignition. Leave it off for about five minutes.

After that, remove and reinsert the key, press the accelerator pedal, and turn the ignition back on to complete the reset procedure.
