Replacing the Front Wheel Bearing

Model: Mercedes Classe C W202 - Years 1993-2000

Obtain replacement bearings. Lift the vehicle, secure it, and remove the wheel. Disassemble the entire brake assembly to free the axle. Remove the brake rotor by first taking off the metal shield that protects the bolt, which must also be unscrewed. With a few well-placed hits, drive the roller bearing out of the hub and remove the rotor. Clean thoroughly from the old grease. Properly reposition the new steel bearing race, then place the new bearing inside after greasing it well. Grease the bearing with your hand to ensure the grease penetrates deeply. Using a piece of wood, tap with a hammer to perfectly seat the bearing. Clean the wheel axle from old grease, reassemble the rotor after greasing, and reinstall the wheel retaining bolt. Spin the wheel by hand to check for any friction or abnormal play. Tighten the retaining screw on the hub nut. Clean the cover from old grease and fill it with new grease. Reposition the hub cover. Reinstall the brake caliper and the wheel.
