To replace the thermostat on a Mercedes A-Class, open the hood to access the components in the engine compartment. On the right side, locate the battery, which must be disconnected and removed by loosening the mounting screws.

Next, loosen all the screws securing the intake manifold to access the components underneath it. You can now disconnect the thermostat and remove it from its mounting screws, replacing it with a new one and reassembling all the previously removed parts.
