How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter on a Nissan Cabstar DIY

To perform the engine oil change and filter replacement on a Nissan Cabstar, work on a level surface and safely, with the engine warm (not hot) to allow the oil to flow better. Protect your hands, place a large container under the sump, and open the filler cap (and, if accessible, the dipstick) to facilitate drainage. Unscrew the drain plug and allow the oil to fully drain, checking the condition of the washer/seal: if it is crushed or deteriorated, replace it. Once the flow has stopped, refit the clean drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque. Next, move on to the oil filter: remove it carefully to avoid spills, clean the seating area, and install the new filter, lightly lubricating the gasket with a thin layer of clean oil; tighten according to the filter or manual instructions (generally by hand, without forcing). At this point, pour the specified quantity and viscosity of oil into the engine for your Cabstar, start for a few seconds, turn off, and wait a few minutes: check for any leaks from the plug and filter and verify the level with the dipstick, topping up if necessary to the correct level.
