The function of the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) is to reintroduce a portion of the exhaust gases back into the intake for further combustion, thereby reducing emissions. The constant contact with exhaust gases, which can often be contaminated with unburnt diesel and oil vapours, causes clogging, preventing the valve's shutter from closing properly and allowing exhaust gases to enter the intake, negatively affecting performance. Therefore, it is advisable to perform periodic cleaning of the valve and its associated manifold; this valve is located at the rear of the engine, in a central position.
