How to Change the Timing Belt on an Opel Meriva

To replace the timing belt on an Opel Meriva, disconnect the negative battery terminal, lift the front of the vehicle, and remove the wheel and the wheel arch liner to access the timing side. Remove the auxiliary belt and any components blocking access, then remove the timing cover. Rotate the engine to align the timing marks and lock the timing components with the appropriate tools. Loosen the tensioner, slide off the old belt, and if included in the kit, replace the tensioner, guide rollers, and water pump. Install the new belt following the correct routing and adjust the tension according to the manufacturer's specifications. Manually rotate the engine a few turns and check that the timing remains correct, then reassemble all previously removed components, start the engine, and check that it runs smoothly and without unusual noises.
