Replace the Air Conditioning Compressor

Model: Vauxhall Astra Astra G - Years 1998-2006

Lift the vehicle, secure it, and remove the front right wheel. Start by removing the bumper by unfastening the retaining clips. Next, dismantle the timing belt. Drain the radiator by operating the appropriate valve, then remove the four securing bolts of the compressor and extract it from its location. Clean the compressor seat thoroughly, replace the gasket, applying a suitable paste between the gasket and the metal part that is resistant to engine temperature. Refit the new compressor and install the timing belt, ensuring the correct tension. The belt should have about one centimetre of flexibility. Recharge the cooling circuit with the appropriate gas and check for proper operation.
