Replacing Timing Chain 1.3 MultiJet

Model: Vauxhall Meriva Meriva A, MK 1 - Years 2003-2010

This is a lengthy maintenance task suitable only for experts. First, you need to remove the entire area related to the auxiliary belt, then the sequence requires you to work on the oil sump from underneath (so raise the car). Before reaching this point, also remove the air filter box and the water pump. The oil sump will be obstructed by the catalyst, so if you cannot remove it, take off that as well. Next, move on to the side cover, which houses the timing chain and engine mounts. Only at this point can you work on the chain itself, replacing it if necessary.
