In this video, we see what happens to a Peugeot 208 with an internal timing belt in the engine, submerged in oil, if the signals indicating problems with this component are ignored, or if the manufacturer’s recommended intervals (in miles and time) for changing the belt are overlooked.

Here, we observe significant sludge at the bottom of the sump, caused by the decomposing belt.

Pieces can clog the oil filter as well. At this point, the oil pressure warning light comes on because the filter is blocked, and we can see the belt is fraying at the sides and must be replaced.

The vehicle in question has 150,000 miles, but for these vehicles, it is advisable to check at 120,000 miles to assess the situation.
