How and why rotate the tires of the Peugeot 208 Blue HDI

Let's see how and why to rotate the tires on a Peugeot 208 BlueHDI. The main reason is to equalize wear between the front and rear axles; on a front-wheel drive car (like the 208) the front tires wear much faster than the rear ones, because they bear the weight of the engine, are responsible for traction, steering, and most of the braking. By rotating the tires evenly, their overall life is increased: remember that new tires should always be mounted on the rear axle. This is crucial for the stability of the car, especially in case of aquaplaning or on slippery surfaces. A fuller rear prevents the rear of the car from skidding. The method shown in the video is the front/rear cross rotation. The recommended frequency is about every 10,000 km; the right rear tire should be mounted on the left front, the left rear tire should be mounted on the right front. The front tires are mounted on the same side, unless they are directional or asymmetrical. After that, the TPMS must be reset via the touchscreen: vehicle settings/maintenance/recalibrate and that's it.
