How to Solve Common Issues with an Electronic Key on a Peugeot 308

Issues with the electronic key of the Peugeot 308 are generally solvable with a few adjustments. The most common symptom is a reduced range of the remote or the warning "key battery low" appearing on the dashboard. A healthy battery should last between 2 and 4 years. Simply replace the battery, which is a standard CR2032 (a straightforward task you can do yourself). It may happen that the system does not recognise the key, even if the battery is new. In this case, an error message will appear on the display. However, the Peugeot 308 is equipped with an emergency start system. Bring the electronic key close to the dedicated reader, usually located in the centre console (under the armrest or in front of the gear stick). With the key in this position, press the START button to start the engine. This system works even if the key battery is completely flat, as the key communicates via a passive chip.
