The EGR valve is present in nearly all modern engines. Its purpose is to recirculate some of the exhaust gases produced by the engine, reducing harmful emissions. This device is prone to frequent malfunctions, often caused by dirt that can clog the valve due to the passage of dirty, residue-rich exhaust gases. Here’s how to proceed when your car alerts you to a possible engine fault. Disconnect the battery and unplug the valve connectors. Remove the intake hose.
