Replacing the Timing Belt

Replacing the timing belt requires a minimum of familiarity and mechanical knowledge, as an installation error can severely damage the engine. It should be noted that in addition to the belt, the tensioner, idler pulley, water pump, and auxiliary belt will also need to be replaced. The first operation is to align the timing marks and lock the pulleys using drill bit extensions. At this point, drain the coolant and proceed with disassembling the timing components: you will need to remove the engine mount by placing a jack under the engine itself. Once the auxiliary belt and crankshaft pulley are removed, complete the disassembly including the water pump and proceed in reverse order to install the new components.
