Replacing the Shock Absorber Support Bearing

Model: Peugeot 406 MK 1 - Years 1995-2005

Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands and remove the front wheel. Remove any oxidation residues with a wire brush and spray penetrating fluid on the bolts and nuts that need to be removed. Start by disconnecting the drop link, unscrewing the bolts that secure the shock absorber to the hub support (support the hub with a jack), and those at the strut top in the engine bay to extract the shock absorber. Once removed, apply clamps to the spring to compress it and remove the upper support from the shock absorber shaft, which also houses a bearing. Clean the support of oxidation, insert the new bearing, and proceed in reverse for reassembly.
