How to Replace a Speaker

Model: Porsche Boxster 986, MK 1 - Years 1996-2004

In this video, you will see how to replace the speaker in a Porsche Boxster. First, using a star bit like the one shown in the video, remove the two Torx screws and lift the speaker. The supporting structure (or basket) is secured by three screws to the grille; unscrew the three screws, separate the basket from the grille, and then cut the support ties. Now, cut around the perimeter of the diaphragm of the old speaker and cut the two wires, then remove the diaphragm from the cone. It is necessary to preserve the connector, so carefully cut around it. Now you have your ring mount. Next, you need to install the new cone (Alpine SPG10C2). First, remove the mounting tabs. Now insert the new cone into the ring mount. Use glue to bond the two pieces. Once the glue has dried, solder the speaker wires to the connector terminals. Now, just reassemble the speaker, reconnect it to the power, and reinstall the grille.
