How to Replace the Water Pump

This video illustrates how to replace the water pump on a Porsche 911. Start by removing the two 13 mm bolts that secure the engine ventilation system and disconnect the connections. Remove it to gain access to the engine compartment. Remove the belt: use a ratchet wrench to relieve the tension. Check that the tensioners move freely. After safely lifting the car with a jack, remove the clamp and drain the coolant. While the coolant drains, you can remove the exhaust and its support bracket for better access to the pump. Raise the jack further. Also, free the coolant hose from its clips. To remove the water pump, tap it gently with a hammer. Extract the old pump. Take a new one. After comparing them and cleaning the joint, install a new gasket on the new pump. After repositioning the pump, reconnect the coolant hose and secure the end with a clamp. Reinstall the belt and fill the reservoir with new coolant.
