Replacing Front Brake Discs and Pads

Model: Porsche 911 996 - Years 1997-2005

Worn brake discs can compromise braking performance, so it's advisable to replace them. Remove the brake caliper using a ratchet wrench to unscrew the two rear screws. Similarly, remove the caliper bracket after taking out the brake pads. Using a star screwdriver, unscrew the two retaining screws of the disc while holding it steady. Clean the bracket thoroughly from debris using a rust remover spray and a wire brush. Reinstall the disc, aligning the mounting holes. For securing the bracket and caliper, use new screws if possible; otherwise, clean and lubricate the old ones. Clean with a wire brush to remove most of the accumulated dirt. Reinstall the caliper and reposition the piston to its starting position, then install the new brake pads. Clean the new discs with the appropriate spray to remove the protective grease layer.
