The EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) is a component that reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) in exhaust gases, reintroduces a small amount of exhaust gas into the engine, and lowers the combustion temperature. The engine control unit continuously monitors the engine load, coolant temperature, engine speed, and vehicle speed. When necessary, the valve opens, exhaust gases are mixed with air and fuel, and combustion occurs at a lower temperature. The valve closes when conditions no longer require EGR and the engine returns to normal operation. Common issues include soot deposits, resulting in power loss, increased fuel consumption, and excessive emissions. Therefore, periodic cleaning of the valve and regular checks are necessary to maintain its efficiency.
