How to Replace the Timing Belt on the Renault Trafic II

Detailed instructions - Today, see how to replace the timing belt on the Renault Trafic II model 1.9. To start the replacement safely, disconnect the battery. Lift the front of the vehicle on a jack and remove the right front wheel. Remove the engine cover and the right wheel arch liner. Unscrew the auxiliary belt tensioner to loosen and remove it, using a ratchet spanner. Unscrew and remove the upper right engine mount and the metal bracket. Remove the front and upper timing covers. Using a 20mm Torx key, unscrew the bolt of the crankshaft pulley, then rotate the engine clockwise until the mark on the camshaft pulley aligns with the notch on the rear cover. Insert the crankshaft locking pin and manually rotate the engine until the crankshaft locks at Top Dead Centre. Remove the central bolt and take off the pulley. Disconnect the radiator hose and loosen the nut of the tensioner float, then unscrew the water pump screws. Install the new pump and fit the new belt tensioner. Insert the belt and tighten it. Remove the camshaft locking pin to allow it to position. Refit the covers and reverse the steps to lower the vehicle.
