How to Replace the CV Boot on the Saab 900 DIY

To replace the CV boot on the Saab 900, secure the car, lift the front end, and remove the wheel on the affected side. Loosen and unscrew the CV nut on the hub, then free the CV joint from the suspension components necessary to pull it out from the wheel assembly. Once there is enough space, extract the CV joint from the hub and move it outward, avoiding pulling on the wiring or brake lines. At this point, remove the clamps from the old boot and slide the damaged rubber off the joint, cleaning any old grease and dirt from the area. Fit the new boot onto the CV joint, apply the specific joint grease in the amount specified by the kit, and reposition the boot in its seat, ensuring the inner and outer edges are well seated against the stops. Tighten the new clamps evenly to ensure a proper seal. Finally, reinsert the CV joint into the hub, reattach the previously removed suspension connections, tighten the CV nut, replace the wheel, and lower the Saab 900. After a brief visual check to ensure the boot is not leaking grease and is correctly aligned, the job is complete.
