How do you clean the throttle valve of the Smart Fortwo 450?

Let's see how to clean the throttle body of a Smart 450: we will need a specific cleaner, such as Wurt 5000 or similar. Disconnect the air tube and remove the valve, which is fixed to the intake manifold with 4 screws, then unplug the electrical connector that controls the throttle. Apply the cleaner on the throttle blades, focusing on carbon deposits; wait a few minutes to allow the product to act, then use a soft brush to remove the residue: absolutely do not use metallic tools that could scratch the surfaces. If there are no problems, avoid opening the electronic part: only if the throttle does not move, remove the 4 metal clips that hold the electronic body together with the mechanical one; clean the tracks and brushes with an electronic contact cleaner and a cotton swab; do not touch anything with your fingers! Avoid any contact with the electronic tracks. Reassemble everything following the reverse path, and start the engine. At the beginning, the ECU will self-learn the new position of the throttle, which for a few seconds may rotate irregularly. When doing this job, remember to clean thoroughly, have clean hands, use a lot of delicacy and only specific products.
