The starter motor is not a commonly recurring fault, however, it is a device whose components (such as brushes, armature, pinion, and relay) are subject to wear. Therefore, at the first signs of malfunction, it is advisable to replace it with a refurbished unit. The starter motor for this model is located on the gearbox, directly beneath the thermostat housing, but there is not enough space to work from the engine bay, so the vehicle must be raised on suitable axle stands to work from underneath.
