How to Replace the Key Battery on a Subaru Outback

When you try to open the car door with the remote key and it doesn’t open, you likely need to change the key battery. To proceed with the replacement, gather a small screwdriver, extract the emergency key by pressing the small button on the side of the key, and use the emergency key to lever open the compartment containing the key to detach and remove the remote cover. Underneath, you will find the printed circuit board of the key, beneath which is the battery that can be removed by prying it out with a small screwdriver. Replace the battery, ensuring the positive terminal is facing upwards, reposition the printed circuit board, and close the remote cover.
