How to Tell if the MAF Sensor is Faulty

Let's see how to determine if the MAF sensor (which measures the amount of air entering the engine to inject the right amount of gasoline) is faulty. Symptoms include difficulty starting, the engine stalling immediately after starting, hesitation and surging during acceleration, loss of power, abnormal increase in fuel consumption, irregular idle, and the check engine light turning on (codes P0100/P0101/P0102/P0103/P0104). The simplest practical test to perform yourself is the disconnection test shown in the video. The MAF sensor in the Toyota Camry is located between the air filter and the throttle body. Start the engine and let it idle, then disconnect the electrical connector of the MAF sensor; if the engine stalls or worsens significantly, the MAF sensor is functioning because the ECU has switched to a limp mode; if it runs better or remains unchanged, then the sensor is faulty or very dirty. Check it by disconnecting the battery, removing the sensor from the air duct, and inspecting for dirt or physical damage. If it's dirty, clean it with specific products, avoiding contact with sensitive parts. If cleaning doesn't help, then replacement is necessary: use a quality replacement part, as overly cheap parts often cause problems.
