How to Replace the Auxiliary Belt on a Toyota Yaris

Model: Toyota Yaris Xp10 - Years 1999-2005

Before you begin, open the bonnet to allow access to the engine. Start by loosening and removing the tensioner bolt. Next, to gain better access to the auxiliary belt, remove the front right wheel. Using a 14mm spanner, unscrew and remove the bolt securing the alternator. This will bring the alternator pulley closer, but you still won't be able to remove the auxiliary belt because the engine mount on the left side is in the way. Therefore, unscrew and remove the two bolts securing that engine mount, and using a jack and a piece of wood placed under the engine, lift it a few centimetres. This will finally allow you to remove the auxiliary belt. To fit the new belt, simply reverse the steps.
