How to Replace the Timing Chain on a Toyota Yaris

Before starting, open the bonnet. Once the bonnet is open, begin by removing the alternator, water pump, left front wheel, and all pulleys and the auxiliary belt. After removing all these components, you can start taking off the cover that protects the timing chain. To do this, unscrew all the bolts around the perimeter of the cover. Once the cover is removed, align the two upper sprockets. To align them, simply rely on the marks on them. They are aligned when the two lines meet. Next, remove the two chain guides by unscrewing the respective bolts. This will allow you to remove the chain. Then, position the new chain, and at this point, simply follow the steps in reverse to reassemble everything, completing the timing chain replacement.
