The engines of the Ligier JS 50

We know that the Ligier JS 50 - like all microcars - are not cars, but L7e category quadricycles, and they are equipped with small displacement gasoline and diesel engines: the gasoline version has a Piaggio 4-stroke engine with a displacement of 505 cm3 (Piaggio MAE 505) with a power of 15/20 hp with electronic injection (Euro 4/5). The diesel version has a Kubota D902 or Yanmar 3-cylinder engine with a displacement of 898 cm3 and a power of 20/27 hp. Both versions have a CVT automatic transmission, a curb weight of 350/450 kg, and a maximum speed limited to 80/90 km/h. These engines are designed for low fuel consumption and reliability, not for performance.
