How to reset the AdBlue warning light on a diesel vehicle

The fixed or flashing AdBlue light is a warning that the tank needs to be filled with the fluid; sometimes the message "start denied in a few kilometres" may also appear. To prevent the vehicle from shutting down, find a rest area and fill the tank. Once done, close the tank cap and start the engine; it may take a few miles before the light goes out. If the light continues to flash on the instrument panel, check the operation of the NOx sensor. The main causes of its malfunction are leaving the tank nearly empty for a long time and making short trips. In some cases, simply disconnecting the battery for a few minutes can reset the sensor; in other cases, it may be necessary to check using diagnostic equipment.
