Do not keep your foot on the clutch pedal, as this can lead to noise and clutch failure over time, which can be costly to repair. Avoid releasing the clutch too quickly, as it puts excessive pressure on the engine and gearbox and can overheat the clutch, potentially causing damage.

Do not rest your hand on the gear lever. Do not keep the clutch engaged when on an incline; if you need to stop while going uphill, ensure the car does not roll backwards.

Many modern manual cars have hill start assist to keep the car stationary. Do not floor the accelerator at low engine revs to avoid stressing the engine.

Do not put the car in neutral when going downhill, as this is dangerous and can lead to loss of control and overheating of the brakes. Never brake without using the clutch, as this could cause the car to stall.
