Operation: What are the differences between the various oils?

In this video we will see many of our doubts cleared up about multi-grade oils to be used in our engine: the numbers before and after the "W" indicate the minimum and maximum temperature at which the oil remains fluid or viscous. For example, a 5W40 indicates that the oil will remain fluid up to 5 degrees Celsius and viscous up to 40 degrees Celsius. Usually the 5W30 is more suitable for high mileage vehicles because, being a less refined oil, it tends to fill any engine imperfections. The acronym SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers, but we also find the API codes where we find a letter followed by a number (S for gasoline and C for diesel) and another letter, the higher it is, the better the quality of the oil. ACEA codes are composed of four letters: ABC and E, where A stands for gasoline, B for diesel, C for engines with after-treatment and E for heavy-duty diesel engines. They are followed by a number; the higher it is, the better the quality of the lubricant. Synthetic oils are now suitable for all types of vehicles: the important thing is to check the lubricant level frequently and use quality products.

Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD gearbox oil replacement

Let's see in this guide the main steps to be able to change the transmission oil of the second series Fiat Ducato, with 2.8 JTD engine. First of all we lift the car and go to locate the gear oil vent bolt, which we find near the transmission; we use a hex wrench to unscrew it, letting it drain the old oil in a container for about ten minutes. At this point we open the bonnet and remove the air intake sleeve, so as to be able to access the gearbox oil filling hole; then we fill up to the maximum level!
