A filter has been placed on the intake of the ventilation circuit of the cabin in the New Beetle to prevent dirt and dust from entering the air conditioning system. To ensure a continuous flow of clean air, replace the filter element periodically.

To do this, slide and remove the central part of the dashboard at the base of the windscreen, unscrew the two screws that secure the right section and remove it. Unscrew the eight screws that hold the lower panel to access the old filter and remove it. Replace it with a new filter, reattach the panel and secure it with its screws, then reposition the dashboard cover.
