The following video tutorial will guide you through the steps to independently replace the water pump on a Volkswagen Polo model 9n. Before replacing the pump, open the water reservoir to top it up at the end of the procedure. Next, open the pump hose and then the reservoir, allowing the fluid to drain into a container.

Use an Allen key to unscrew the three screws, and with a 50mm Torx socket, loosen the pulley and remove the timing belt. Unscrew the screws on the water pump and disconnect the electrical connector.

Replace the pump and then reinstall the belt. Top up the fluid in the reservoir and close the bonnet.
