How to Replace the Fuel Pump on a VW Golf

Let's see how to remove the fuel pump from a VW Golf 5: disconnect the battery cables, then remove the rear seat cushions; start by unscrewing the screws securing the metal cap with a socket wrench, remove it from its seat, and use absorbent paper around the perimeter to soak up any fluid leaks. Use a chisel to unscrew the large securing bolt of the fuel pump, disconnect the power connectors and fluid circulation hoses. Extract the floating fuel pump from its seat along with any attached parts. Finally, install a new part.
