To remove the headlining on a Volkswagen Golf, start by unscrewing the side handles with a screwdriver. Next, remove the sun visors and the overhead lighting unit located in the panel.

If the car has a sunroof, open it before removing the panel. Once everything is detached, pull the headlining panel away from the perimeter of the roof.

When the panel is free from the clips, carefully extract it from the vehicle, as it may break if not handled properly.
