How to replace the fuel filter on your car without incurring labour costs? Watch this video to learn how to effectively remove the diesel filter on a Volkswagen Passat by yourself. First, lift the bonnet and secure it. Once you locate the fuel filter, disconnect it from the pipes and connectors. Use a spanner or socket to unscrew the securing bolts of the upper cover of the filter, remove the worn filter and screw in the new filter cap with the new filter attached. Reassemble the filter cover in the engine bay with all its parts (pipes and power cables).
