A problem concerning Volkswagen vehicles equipped with a variable geometry water pump.

This problem concerns Volkswagen Golf, but more generally all Volkswagens that have a variable geometry water pump. While driving, you see the water temperature suddenly rise to 130°, and stay there as the water begins to boil. How the variable geometry works: the impeller receives a signal from the control unit telling it to close the pump, a metal part will go onto the impeller, and the pump no longer circulates the water, causing the temperature to rise. This variable geometry pump is used to modulate the engine temperature to always perfectly operate all the anti-pollution devices mounted on it. Unfortunately, it happens that these pumps get stuck in the closed position and do not reopen. Apparently, installing a pump without variable geometry is the perfect solution, but at that point all the anti-pollution devices will no longer work as they should.
