Resetting the service light on a Volkswagen Passat is a simple and quick operation that can be done independently without the use of any diagnostic socket or scanning computer. Turn on the car's instrument panel and press the menu button on the right side of the steering wheel to access the car's settings. From the settings menu, select the engine oil change option and hold down the button to reset the light. After completing the reset, return to the main menu and restart the instrument panel. If the light comes back on the display, it will be necessary to perform this procedure in a workshop.
