The power steering fault on the Volkswagen Polo 6N is quite common, and the reason is attributed to the steering angle connector, a critical component that sends information to the control unit about how much and how quickly you are turning the steering wheel. You can find the component on Amazon with the code B0B1J5FZX1 for £9.79, with free delivery (ensure compatibility of the part). For replacement, start by disconnecting the car battery, and remove the old connector secured with two screws to the steering column, under the steering wheel. After installing the new sensor and reconnecting the battery, the steering may not work immediately, but you will need to teach the control unit the zero point (straight steering): turn the ignition on, rotate the steering fully to the left, then fully to the right. Bring it back to the exact centre, turn off the car and remove the key. Restart the car; now the assistance should be active. Remember to also clear any error codes from the control unit using an OBD2 diagnostic tool.
