How do you remove the roof panel of a Volkswagen Golf? Follow these steps. Start by removing the side handles of the headlining with a screwdriver, then take off the sun visors and the overhead lighting unit located in the panel; remove the plastic covers from the A-pillars. If the car is equipped with a sunroof, open it before removing the panel. Pry the headlining panel away from the perimeter of the roof using a lever. Once the panel is free from clips, you can pull it out of the car. Be careful when taking it out.
