Repairing the Front Door Lock

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf III, MK 3, Golf 3 - Years 1991-1997
Part: Door lock

Before proceeding with the repair, obtain the new lock cylinder. Using a Torx key, remove the retaining screw of the handle located on the side of the door. Carefully remove the handle by pulling it from its seat to access the internal mechanism easily. Once the handle is removed, place it on a flat surface to replace the lock cylinder. The replacement process is quite simple, but to avoid needing a new key, it is necessary to transfer the old key code inserts into the new lock cylinder. Lubricate with silicone oil and reassemble the entire mechanism.
