Removal of Steering Wheel for Key Lock Replacement

Model: Volkswagen Maggiolino MK 1 - Years 1938-1980

First, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Start by unscrewing the retaining screws of the cover accessible through the holes on the sides of the steering column using an Allen key. Carefully loosen the screw on the column and remove the wiring. Now you can remove the steering wheel fixing screw. Before removing the nut, mark its position with a permanent marker. Remove the steering wheel by hand, taking care of the airbag cables. Dismantle and install the new control block. Carefully reassemble the airbag. Reconnect the battery and test the new device on the road.
