Replacing Speakers in a Volkswagen Passat

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

Remove the cover of the central handle and unscrew the two screws underneath. Do the same with the small screw cover near the opening handle and the hidden screw beneath it. Then unscrew all the bolts that secure the panel from underneath or the sides (the area that can only be accessed by opening the door). Now that the panel is removed, disconnect the cables and take it out. At this point, you can access the speakers by unscrewing their mounting screws and disconnecting them as well. For fitting the new speakers, simply reverse the process by installing them and then the panel.
