How to Remove the Steering Wheel from a Volkswagen Golf 4

Need to replace the steering wheel on your VW Golf 4? Here's how to remove the steering wheel and airbag. Disconnect the battery terminals in the engine bay before removing the airbag. To proceed with disassembly: unclip the securing hooks behind the steering wheel (back of the airbag) using a screwdriver. Once the airbag is unclipped (driver's side), disconnect the power connectors and remove it from the steering wheel. Unscrew the steering wheel securing bolts and remove the steering wheel. Fit the new steering wheel and tighten the bolts, then reconnect the power connectors and secure the airbag.
